Statlr is now live!
Statlr is a free service that allows you to gather and share stats from your favorite websites with the world!
Unlike other statistic services that focus mainly on gathering stats from one site, Statlr allows you to gather stats from many sites. We currently support Twitter, Vimeo, Last.fm, Live For Fame, and Gowalla.
Another key feature of Statlr is its design. We feel that stats should be easy to understand, so we made it that way! Stats are displayed big and beautifully to keep reading numbers super fun.
So go and create an account today at statlr.com/signup!
And be sure to follow us on Twitter and Tumblr.

Check out what Mike and I have been creating for two weeks!

Day 3 of no cigarettes

Symptoms of Withdrawal

After you quit smoking, you with have some withdrawal symptoms. Such symptoms generally peak in intensity 3 -5 days after you quit, and usually disappear after 2 weeks, although some may persist for several months.

The symptoms of withdrawal include both physical and mental difficulties.

Physical Symptoms.

  • Tingling in the hands and feet
  • Sweating
  • Intestinal disorders (cramps, nausea)
  • Headaches
  • Sore throat, coughing, and signs of a cold

Withdrawal symptoms should be treated accordingly, just as you would with physical symptoms due to an illness or disease.

Mental and Emotional Symptoms. Tension and craving build up during periods of withdrawal, sometimes to a nearly intolerable point. Nearly every moderate-to-heavy smoker experiences more than one of the following strong emotional and mental responses to withdrawal:

  • Temper tantrums, intense needs, feelings of dependency, and a state of near paralysis
  • Insomnia
  • Mental confusion, vagueness, or difficulty concentrating
  • Irritability, restlessness, impatience, or anger
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

The first signs of nicotine withdrawal seem to appear within 30 minutes of a smoker’s last cigarette. The findings, published in Psychopharmacology, are believed to be the first to show just how early nicotine withdrawal occurs. The study involved 50 people who smoked a pack of cigarettes daily. Half refrained from smoking for 4 hours, while the others smoked as usual. After 30 minutes, those who did not have a cigarette craved one and did more poorly on tasks requiring attention than those in the smoking group. Within 3 hours, the non-smoking group showed increases in anxiety, sadness, and difficulty concentrating.

@JonVictorino made this awesome promo piece for the upcoming LiveForFame launch party.
I decided to mask it and share the PSD. It would be funny to see a bunch of different takes on it.
Create your own spaceman launch promo using this PSD (http://bit.ly/fcp5o) and upload the results to LiveForFame.com or tag your Tumblr post #liveforfame
Hope to see you at the L4F launch party October 3rd in SF!

The Comedy Central Roast of Twitter - Opening Remarks from Twitter

aedison:

Thank you for all coming to my roast, and uh… I can see you all in the audience, so this will be just about the only two and a half hours where I *won’t* need to ask you what you’re doing. I just wanted to start with a little direct message from me to you. Thank you. For sticking with me, through the downtime; and the web-cocks; and the downtime; and the retweeters; and the downtime; and the #TOCTers; and the downtime.

But then, did you really have a choice? I mean, Plurk? Plurk anyone? Aw, I’m kidding, Plurk! I can see him in the front row — I’m kidding, dude! Let’s have a big hand for Plurk, c’mon! C’mon, a big hand… full of venture capital money. He needs it.

Let’s see… who else is here… Oh! Facebook is here… how about a big round of applause for Facebook? Yeah! Hey, buddy, you okay? It uh… it looks like someone’s turned on our integration, it looks like he’s just mirroring everything I say. That’s a shame. Hopefully when he comes up to the dais to speak later he’ll have something original to say. Or at least something stolen from Myspace and improved upon.

And of course congratulations to FriendFeed, who recently hooked up with Facebook and changed a few relationship statuses if you know what I mean!

iPhone is here! How about that! At least, I think he’s here — could someone turn on location services? Ah, there he is! Y’know, iPhone has been a real great friend to me — always willing to offer a place to stay. Too many places, if I’m honest. I should be clear when I say that the goal of this whole shindig is to see Tweetie and Birdfeed go at it. If you want to keep track, the hashtag is gonna be #tooevenlymatchedformetochooseasidewillsomeonepleaseaddanewfeature.

Google sends their regards, and sends them in (0.37 seconds). They would have come, but someone forgot to turn off SafeSearch and things are gonna get a little raunchy here tonight. Yahoo would be here, but they have an abundant ability to be absolutely blind to areas of the market Google has yet to penetrate, so they unfortunately cannot see this entire amphitheater.

It’s gonna be a great night, with a lot of LOLs, so sit back and enjoy yourselves. We’ll try and keep the spambots to a minimum.

This is how IE8 is described to Windows users:

“Internet Explorer 8 is the latest version of the familiar Web browser that you are most comfortable using.”

That’s the best they can say against Firefox and Safari, I guess.

exactly why my tweets are now private :)

I would say 1/5th of my new followers notifications are fake, which makes Twitter my biggest source of inbox spam. How come Facebook can fix this but Twitter can’t?
